Open Jar. Add Dinner
This is not a soup-making class—it’s a canning workshop designed to help you preserve the building blocks of great soup. In this hands-on class, we’ll focus on safely canning acidified soup starter bases using the water-bath method, creating jars that save time and effort on busy nights. You’ll learn how ingredients like onions, carrots, celery, tomatoes, garlic, and herbs can be preserved as ready-to-use flavor foundations. We’ll cover proper acidification, jar sizes, processing times, and why these starters are canned differently than finished soups. During class, we’ll also talk through multiple ways to turn one jar into soup, stew, beans, or braised dishes later. This workshop is ideal for experienced home preservers looking to expand beyond jams and into practical, everyday pantry jars. You’ll leave with finished jars, clear instructions, and a new appreciation for preserving time, not just food.
You must reserve a seat in advance.
Event cost: $55 Please call or text: (209) 484-5492 to register.
